Okita is a very handsome 20 year-old man, standing at either 176 cm or 178cm, with reddish brown hair in a topknot and emerald green eyes. He usually wears a loose red, gray, and orange haori and green hakama with a kind of white bandaging around his calves.
Having trained under Kondo Isao from a young age, Okita has become well-known as the Shinsengumi's strongest fighter. He comfortably rivals the skills of his superior, Hijikata Toshirou, and does well to take after the legendary samurai that he's based on.Nov 9, 2020
In the second Shounen JUMP character popularity poll, he ranked 2nd place, just below Gintoki. In volume 12, Okita's age is revealed to be 18. Despite being under Japan's legal drinking age, in Edo, you can drink alcohol from 15. His name is based on the historical Okita Souji.
When the shogunate forces (including the Shinsengumi and the Shinchōgumi) retreated to the Tōhoku region, Okita remained in Edo alone. He died from tuberculosis on July 19 (the 30th day of the fifth month, by the lunar calendar), 1868.
