Is Niizuma Eiji based on ODA?

Tsugumi Ohba (Japanese: 大場 つぐみ, Hepburn: Ōba Tsugumi) is the pen name of a Japanese manga writer, best known for authoring the Death Note manga series with illustrator Takeshi Obata from 2003 to 2006, which has 30 million collected volumes in circulation. The duo's second series, Bakuman.

It's speculated that Niizuma Eiji is based on Eiichiro Oda and Tite Kubo. Eiji's penchant and talent for mainstream, and the eventual serialization of his former assistants, Fukuda Shinta and Nakai Takuro, draw a comparison between him and Masashi Kishimoto, mangaka of Naruto.

Apparently, Fukuda is based off from a younger Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses' main vocalist). There is a loose similarity in personality between Shinta Fukuda and Death Note's Mello (Mihael Keehl). Both men are prone to throwing tantrums when plans go haywire, wear dark clothing, own a motorcycle, and hate losing.

Anyway, Bakuman outshines Death Note in virtually every way since it's more thematic and realistic. Perhaps, Bakuman is better because the two main protagonists resemble the dreams and desires of the two mangakas, which makes the whole work more meaningful and emotionally charged?Jan 12, 2019

6/10 Bakuman

They have stated that during the development and throughout the production of the Death Note manga they were documenting their experiences for a new manga they planned on releasing afterward. That manga they spoke of was Bakuman, a true to life story about the experiences of mangaka.

Bakuman started with chapter 162 in the anthology's debut issue on January 30, 2012, and ended with the series' final chapter released on May 7, 2012.

Reversi has some similarities with Death Note, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's previous work, with both protagonists being a dark hero, and the demon in Reversi can be considered as a shinigami in Death Note. Schwarz' ideals can be compared with Light Yagami's goal, with Weiss or L trying to stop him.
