Is Jin-Roh on Netflix?

What is Jin-Roh based on?

It is a live-action adaptation of the Japanese animated film Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. The film is set in 2029 where South and North Korea prepare for a unified government after a severe economic depression slams both countries.

Sage (VO): For the uninitiated, Jin-Roh is a film based off of writer Mamoru Oshii's Kerberos Saga, a franchise that has spawned radio dramas, visual novels, manga, and live action films since 1987.

Jin-Roh (人狼, Jinrō, lit. "Werewolf"), also known as Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade in its American release, is a 1999 Japanese action political thriller anime film directed by Hiroyuki Okiura (in his directorial debut) and written by Mamoru Oshii.

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is currently not on Netflix. Movies and series tend to come and go quite a lot in the streaming service unless they're Netflix originals. A Netflix account starts from $9.99 and gives you full access to their library with ad-free viewing.Sep 2, 2022

It focuses on Kazuki Fuse, a member of the elite Kerberos Panzer Cops, a metropolitan counter-terrorism unit. Fuse confronts his own humanity when he fails to shoot a young terrorist that his unit traps in the storm-water tunnels. She detonates a bomb in front of him, but only kills herself.

The Soldier (German: Soldat) is the common enemy infantry unit that Captain B.J. Blazkowicz faces in his campaign against Deathshead in Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

In Akira you had classic Otomo designs moving really fluidly, and Jin-Roh is rotoscoped for a lot of it, like the Asuka fight in The End of Evangelion, though the practice is most associated with Ralph Bakshi of Fritz the Cat and Wizards. With rotoscoping, you essentially trace over live-action film.Aug 29, 2015

Runner ups are the Wolf Brigade from Jin Roh (or the badass live action adaptation “Illang” on Netflix). They're upsettingly intimidating and served as inspiration for the Helghast (Kill Zone) and Wolfenstein. Also, Mjolnir armor.Jun 25, 2019

Overall, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is well worth the watch for anyone who is looking for a more mature animated film. It's a brilliant story depicting that the hunters kill the wolf in the end only in fairy tales.

Is Illang The Wolf Brigade worth watching?
The adaptation of Mamoru Oshii's "Jin-Roh" of 1999 is quite good, it retains the essence of the original animation film directed by Hiroyuki Okiura. I highly recommend this film for action lovers, asian cinema enthusiats. The movie doesn't deviate that much from a possible reality of a reunified north and south korea.
