Parents need to know that Overlord is an extremely gory horror/war movie set during WWII that involves the reanimated dead: twisted, crazed monsters (some of which are burned with flamethrowers). Expect nonstop blood, guns/shooting, explosions, and dead bodies.
Overlord is rated TV-MA in the US. This technically means that Overlord is not appropriate for children under the age of 17. The anime contains mature content that children will not be permitted to view.Aug 9, 2022
There is an innate horror to Mass Effect 2 on the surface, but the game never quite wants to make it the focus. The Collectors are body snatchers, and that makes them innately horrific, but the story never tries to make them horror characters.May 23, 2021
Sword Art Online took place in a series of game worlds. Overlord is about a max level player who somehow wakes up in another world, in the body and surroundings of the game he was playing. It's not the same game world, if it is in fact a game world at all.May 12, 2018
Kai was the Harem Overlord, the owner of the universe's best harem. But the most powerful people in the universe killed his harem and sealed his cultivation. But they didn't know that the supposedly destroyed Harem wish still existed. Kai had used the wish to reincarnate himself and his lovers.
The world of anime is a wonderful place, filled with lovable characters, fantastic action, and far-out locations. Like any piece of entertainment, not everything in anime is appropriate for all ages. Just like how American animation can range from Paw Patrol to Bojack Horseman, anime caters to many age groups.
Overlord fits into the genre of cheerfully bloody and action-packed horror, with little time spared for creeping dread or trying to make the audience jump out of their seats in terror. If you can handle horror movies like The Thing, World War Z and 28 Days Later, you should be fine with Overlord.Nov 8, 2018
Jump Scare Rating: For most of its running time, Overlord is more action than horror movie and although there are tense scenes, the jump scares are fairly minor and heavily telegraphed (the exception being the scare at 15:15 which comes out of nowhere).
It's not nearly as graphic as Berserk is, which I would not recommend to someone younger than 16 or so, but again it depends on the viewer and what they can safely process.Nov 12, 2020
